The government will announce the 2026/2027 season cocoa producer price to pave the way for a new pricing structure for cocoa farmers.
The government will make the announcement as it continues efforts to secure financing for the new season and address liquidity challenges in the industry.
Today’s announcement comes after the Ghana Cocoa Board held meetings with leading international cocoa trading companies in London as part of preparations for the 2026/2027 cocoa season.
The engagement focused on the newly enacted Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 2026, the proposed cocoa sector financing framework, preparations for the new season, and plans for commercial paper and bond financing.
Discussions also explored liquidity arrangements for the upcoming season, private-sector financing support for Licensed Buying Companies, and Ghana’s readiness to implement the European Union Deforestation Regulation.
The producer price for the 2025/2026 light crop season remained unchanged even though there was a decline in international cocoa prices.
The price remained at GH¢1,241.76 per 30-kilogramme load for Grade I and II cocoa beans and GH¢2,587 per 64-kilogramme gross bag.
This translates into GH¢41,392 per tonne, equivalent to 16 bags of cocoa.
The announcement of the new pricing is a decision that will shape farmer incomes, buying arrangements, and the financial health of the sector.
