Agriculture is a major sector of the Ghanaian economy, making significant contributions to foreign exchange earnings, economic growth and food security. Besides, agriculture in the country has seen new developments in recent years driven by modern technology, creating jobs across the country.
However, not many are aware of the innovative game-changing ventures led by the private sector and the youth in redefining the face of the business which used to be the reserve of the old and uneducated.
Despite, the vast opportunities, the sector is largely under-tapped including agrotourism, an area that presents agriculture and agribusiness with tourism for educational and economically prudent experiences to both Ghanaians and foreigners.
AgriHive and Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to revolutionize agrotourism in Ghana, promoting agricultural development and boosting investor confidence. By leveraging tourism, the partnership will attract young people both home and abroad to agribusiness, creating a win-win situation for the economy and rural communities.

While signing the MoU, the two companies talked about showcasing
Ghana’s agricultural wealth to create additional sources of income for farmers and as a tool for development in local communities.
As part of the initiative, AgriHive, founded by media personalities, Miriam Osei Agyemang and Gifty Hodey Manye will lead the registration of interested farmers and agribusiness ventures while creating publicity for patronage by groups and individuals.
The Chief Executive Officer of the GTDC, Prof. Kobby Mensah while expressing optimism about the partnership emphasized the significance of the partnership in championing agrotourism.
