The vegetable industry in Ghana is currently being recognised for its massive contribution to the country’s economic growth and food security, and as a result, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has pledged that, it is committed to promoting a conducive environment for the growth of the vegetable sector in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the sector Minister during an engagement with Vegetable Producers and Exporters in Ghana, organised by the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission to Ghana on 12 March, 2025 at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, Paul Siameh who is the Acting chief Director at the ministry said the government is ready to support vegetable farmers.
“As a government, we remain committed to creating an enabling environment for growth in the vegetable sector. Through institutions like the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA)”, he remarked.
Mr. Siameh also indicated that, the ministry is “actively promoting Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Certification, greenhouse farming, improved irrigation systems, and export-driven agribusiness investments.”
These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Ghana’s vegetable exports and ensuring that Ghanaian produce meets international standards.
Mr. Siameh also urged all stakeholders, farmers, exporters, agribusinesses, and technology providers to explore meaningful collaborations that will drive real change in the agricultural industry. “Let us take full advantage of the knowledge and opportunities presented here to transform Ghana’s vegetable production and export landscape,” Mr. Siameh encouraged.
Under the theme: “Bridging Innovation and Growth in Vegetable Production and Export”, the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission to Ghana seeks to foster, enhance and facilitate trade and investment between Ghana and Israel through the provision of agricultural technology among other technological innovations .
